im done with cdns!

so for those who have been following this website know that a first i used paid cdn, bunny.net (which, not gonna lie, was pretty solid), and later caved in into using free version of cloudflare... because... peer pressure? lol. you know, everyone and their mother uses cloudflare, and thats barely an overexaggeration.

but, i’ve decided to dip out of both. i’m done. no more cdn life for this site. why? honestly i don’t need a cdn to begin with. for a website like mine cnd is not only a waste of resources, but an overkill. it’s a personal website. it’s not netflix. it’s not youtube. it’s literally just a tiny corner of the internet where i drop my thoughts, and whatnot. having a cdn is just overkill and ir to feels like i was optimizing for a problem that didn’t even exist. also cdn added more latency than it solved. like... excuse me?? you had one job, cdn, one job. and even if my website grows bigger, or more complex, i highly doubt anyone would care if it loads in 0.5s or 2s. so yeah i'm absolutely going back to basics. direct hosting, no middleman, proxying the website’s assets. it loads fast enough, and i actually have more control, as the server configs i make are nearly instant, instead of me having to purge cache on cdn’s end.

and besides, it’s not like i’ve got a swarm of users from every continent clicking around at once. direct delivery is more than fine. removing all that cdn shit cleaned up things so much. no more random caching weirdness, no more waiting on propagation, no more debugging why outdated stuff is still showing up.

and before you assk, “what about bots” or "what about potential ddos attacks”. bots will do bots things no matter what. fighting them is kinda futile. and for the second point... i don’t think anyone would want to waste their resources on me.
