the final verdict: i don’t fw ai

so, over a certain amount of time, i’ve shared conflicting and contradicting opinion of ai. i both shat on it, and supported it, multiple times. the more it gets developed, the more i feel it is sucking out all the joy of this world.

what do i mean by that? i mean that ai would be good if it was developed only for scientific and medical research and advancement, and as automated factory or construction machinery, you know, so humans would get better health, and wouldn’t have to do hard physical labor anymore. but what we get out of ai? the destruction of all creativity? all you need is to prompt it properly, and machine will spew it out for you. i too, though it is cool you can make something out of nothing. but it is not you making it, it is a soulless machine, following orders, the same machine that could be used to cure cancer, or to not require humans at the construction site, must generate a shitty drawing for you instead...

what pisses me off the most are those “teen husstlers”. they’re the very reason the dead internet theory, soon won’t be just a theory. and before you call me an asshole—i’m not against kids making money, i’m against the way they do it. youtube, and tiktok, and probably other social media is filled with ai generated slop. ai generated video, with ai generated text, and ai generated voice. is it really that hard to record something? you have a camera in your own pocket! is it really that hard to record your own voice? you also have a microphone in your pocket! is it really that hard to learn how to edit those videos yourself? they want the fruit without roots. and it’s pissing me off. no one wants to watch your sloppy shit. i don’t care it makes you $4000 a month. either learn how to be an actual content creator, or do something else for money...

ai is not all bad, if we exclude creative work. as i said i support it when it is used for science, for an example. science, obviously, includes computer science. ai is useful for helping you learn and understand coding. in my eyes, there’s little to no difference between asking a chatbot to help you understand why your code isn’t working and asking the same question on stackoverflow, except the ai chatbot won’t throw insults and potentially slurs for asking a “dumb” questions, and that is, if they [the stackoverflow] even answer your question. so yeah, in situations like these, the ai usage is justifiable and acceptable. especially if it's an old language, or framework and it is difficult to find a human to teach you or explain it to you.

so, if some ai is “okay”, what’s my issue? the ai’s attack on the creative industry. humans were creative beings for centuries, millennias even. humans were creating things way before they could even communicate efficiently. but what is the point of creating anything when a machine can just steal it and make something “new” in seconds? what is the point when for the time it takes a human to write one blog post, draw one piece of art, compose one song, ai could make hundreds, if not thousands of pieces in that same timeframe? and with future generations having nonexistent attention spans, no one will wait for you, or anyone to create anything, they’ll just ask the machine to do it for them, whenever they desire something... if you don’t see the issue here, you’re not even worth arguing with.

i feel like we’re so incredibly fucked and it’s already too late to stop ai development. the moore’s law might not be true for computers in general anymore, but it almost definitely applies to the ai technology, just a few years ago all ai could generate is incoherent mess that vaguely resembled the thing you asked it to generate, and only a couple of short years later ai has reached unimaginable results. almost anything that exists can and probably will be generated. and i think it’s concerning to an alarming degree.

what will i do? nothing, mostly. it’s pointless to fight it, or at least i feel so. i won’t try to block ai scrapers with robots.txt or actual server-side config, and i won’t “poison” photos i personally take and upload, as i feel like it’s pointless. those mechanic, soulless bastards will sooner or later find a way to bypass these anyways and even though i’d not want them to, use this as their training data. so, what’s the fucking point of trying to stop them, they’ll get in anyways...

so yeah, fuck ai.
