i love meachnical keyboards
yeah i said i wont post for a while but i just but i literally can’t not gush about mechanical keyboards right now! seriously, i’m obsessed, i love how damn repairable they are. (had mine for years btw)
i just love how repairable these are! a broken switch? or a switch that just pops out too easy? no problem! all i need is to replace that one switch singular switch, instead of trashing the whole damn keyboard! right to repair ftw and i’m not creating unnecesary ewaste.
and yes im guilty as charged. that is an outemu green switch being inserted into an outemu blue keyboard! whatcha gonna do about that? sue me? but yeah i love how you can literally just hotswap it. so one board can last you for a very long time. and i think that’s such a good thing.
if you’re not using a mechanical keyboard yet, i don’t know what you're waiting for??? they’re way cheper than some years ago. so “they’re expensive” doesn’t cut it.
you can get a decent hotswap keyboard for about 30-50 USD. you need to be comforable using aliexpress or similar sites, but mechanical keyboards are definitely much more affordable now. and if you’re not comfortable with importing shit from china, than just avoid namebrands like razer, stealseries or corsair. no shade to those companies, of course, but they’re indeed bit pricy, and you definitely can get similar product for much cheaper elsewhere. if you’re not using a mech you’re missing out on customizability and fixiability. plus “regular” keyboards feel too damn mushy to the point its kinda gross to type on... (this excludes laptop keyboards tho they get a pass)
and to me, it just feels soo good to not be stuck with some shitty, impossible to fix piece of trash that’s gonna end up in a landfill. this is how all tech should be made, but this is less and less the case. even many namebrand mechanical keyboards literally solder the damn switches so you can’t easily fix them. what the fuck??
so yeah, i love how easy (some) mechanical keyboards can be fixed!!
