my name is rina . born in 1998 and i come from europe. i am a self-described whimsical mess :3. a professional overthinker, too.

i looove thick, heavy hoodies, especially the ones i can pull down and make them "eat" my hand!! i enjoy this, even if it sometimes makes me feel slightly too warm ^__^ ! that feeling alone (warmness) is truly special.

i love it so so so much. so, is it practical? not exactly! but that's idiosyncrasy, right? tho, im not rly insecure abt myself, or anything. i don't "hide" in hoodies. i jst hate having my hands "naked", and under certain conditions, i can "feel" the air literally, and i hate that lol.

i've been online for as long as i know for myself, even before having my own computer! i was around 7-8 years old when i got my first computer. even for mid-2000s standards that computer was not powerful, but it was MINE. and back then, it was all that mattered.

i kept reading other people's 'about me' pages, talking about how they, before getting sick of it, tried to chase good SEO, or good searchability, or to be "professional". but dunno, i never truly cared. i had a website on-and-off since 2016, and i've never tried to look too approachable. i always thought of it as boring...

i don't trust people that don't have at least one laptop sticker. who are you keeping it so plain for? my favorite animal is a cat.

technology

so, what runs this website? simpler than you think! most of this website is plain-old static html. for dynamic functions no databases are used, but rather a custom-written PHP parser. i tore down, and remade this website in the past. it used to contain bloat such as tailwind css, google fonts via google's own cdn (current fronts are from google fonts, but they're hosted on website's server), but right now it's very simple, and very basic and that's on purpose.
website is really lightweight and you may load it in a browser as old as interner exploer 8!, although in that case website may appear broken.

by default, the websites uses the modern TLS 1.3 and HTTP/2 protocols, and where possible your connection will be upgraded to HTTP/3 and QUIC. however, downgrades are also possible: the website supports as low as TLS 1.0 and weak ciphers such as RC4-MD5 or EXP-RC4-MD5. this isn't necessarily a flaw. this isn't a banking website. i'd ideally ditch https all together, but then your browser would yell at you how this website is "unsafe".

compatibility with old systems is important, even when not perfect.

design philosophy

wether you argue my stance is ethical or not, the philosophy is "vibes over everything". it is not designed with accessibility in mind. it is not mobile-responsive and it doesn't fully or properly use semantic HTML. this will look awful on your phone or a small screen! that's not a bug in case of my website. colors and style are picked for visual appeal and as such may not comply with WCAG.

website is designed to be best viewed in a desktop (or laptop) browser. the website also doesn't and will not provide darkmode ever. its meant to be pink/white. get used to it or leave. pinkmode ftw!

my website respects your privacy by not using any tracking cookies, or even any analytics scripts. all i get from you, is the access logs my server collects

why this domain!?

riri is a nickname of rina. my name is rina. .my is malaysian domain name.. but i am not from malaysia. DOTmy here, as in my place, my site, etc. quite similar to how people use .me. there is really no deeper meaning then that. it's just meant to represent the ownership, a personal space. my, as in meaning of mine if it makes sense! you're supposed to read it as an open-ended sentence. riri my [blank]...

fun facts:
i'm one of the early foreign adopters of the .my domains. before june 13, 2024 you had to be malaysian to register a .my domain. riri my was initially registered on october 18, 2024.
in māori riri (v.) means "annoyed, angry". paired with the meaning of "my" in english.. it sure is interesting... lol
