sometimes it’s better to just be alone. seriously. im sure some of you have followed the saga, and the drama. and the ban, that was in my opinion unjust. im far too old to have the time to care, or involve myself with drama. so this post is just my own reflection on the past few days, and the fact that maybe, the community of any kind, just isn’t for me...
to my surprise, i have actually received emails backing me up, which i won’t share; i have received comments on my own posts partially or fully agreeing with me, depending on the commenter, and i also have an entire blog post written by brennan, mentioning in passing what happened to me, so with all that being said, i genuinely don’t think i was the devil in this situation, at least not according to quite a few people!
i feel like it is necessary to say they i mean no actual shade to mod/admin team, they’re only humans. i hold no grudges or hatefulness towards any of them. but i am resentful and spiteful towards the website (forum) itself. but can you blame me? can you really? this brings us back to my self-host-anything-you-can mentality. every community, obviously has some rules. whether they’re fair or not, is up to the debate. i’m not talking about this forum necessarily, just in general: every platform decides it’s rules. which is normal. when you join a community, you have to follow their “laws”. but when you’re alone, YOU are the law. no one can ban you from your own website. people can disagree, but people can’t remove it.
communities are great in theory, but you must follow the conduct, and misconduct is judged on moderation’s own accord. which is, mostly, fair. a community might bring you traffic, but then you indirectly have to follow the community rules, if you’re going to share on there. if you’re solo, well, you’re your own boss. i wholeheartedly believe in self hosting and no one being able to tell you what to do.
i don’t think im necessarily a bad person, but im not necessarily a saint. most of us aren’t either as well.
the community is great but sometimes being alone is actually much better. when you are alone you don’t have to micromanage everything you say. i genuinely cannot control how others choose to moderate their own spaces, but that can’t stop me from expressing my own opinions on my own space. and to circle back to my forum ban, whether you think my ban is unjust or not, it was still within their right to remove me, just as it is within my right to post about it. we shouldn’t cry over spilled milk. my ban is one and done. and that’s fine. that won’t stop me from posting. and for the people that care, they do know where to find me.
the community is great, until it's not

Sorry this happened to you. Further cementing my belief that online "communities" of every kind are trash, even those that assume they have the moral high ground because they're not part of the social media space. I'm a member of that forum but I deliberately don't share links to my actual website there.
As a native speaker of English who is not from North America, I also reject Brennan's claim to speak for "all the English-speaking world", and I note that he describes himself as "queer", which is, in fact, a "rather hurtful" term in my culture.

honestly, as days pass, i care less and less. especially since i was gonna leave myself lol. i definitely feel like my ban was a way to show some sort of a powertrip, which is, again, within their right, but the real question is still is it the right thing to do?
moral policing is always equal to virtue signaling. or as other comments on other posts of mine have dubbed it 'holier than thou'. what matters is if you LOOK better than everyone else, not if you actually are, lol.
after everything that happened to me, i cant even blame you for not wanting to share your website there. you'd likely end up with same, if not worse fate. in my opinion things should not be that way. you shouldn't have to feel afraid to post your website, on the website meant for sharing websites...
as for 'queer', yes, it is technically a slur too, but if you're LGBT, you are allowed to say it. (i am before someone else starts a new drama)
