i feel bad for the frogs, or for the purist among y’all - toads. as you may, or may not know, currently in europe there are massive temperatures. so massive that even danube is kinda drying up, and old ww2 warships start to show up... so you can imagine how actually hot it has gotten... there literally is barely enough water for HUMANS, let alone animals.. and like boats cannot really do river travels in some areas. and that’s just danube! danube, a massive river is drying out. and where i am from, at some areas, the local mini-river (officially a stream) just has a completely bare riverbed. nothing, nada. just dirt. so i guess you can understand HOW BAD it ha actually gotten...
and now, you’re likely wondering what this has to do with frogs? well, more than you think! frogs (but also toads) need to always have their skin moist, or they die. let me repeat: they need to have their skin moist to not fucking die... and there isn’t enough water.. so you do 1+1. i especially feel bad for one specific toad. during the evenings she hops around my building’s backyard. and mind you, i live in almost exact city center, or what most of you would consider “downtown”. there isn’t really any body of water that close to where i am located. the toad would need to hop for a while to get to a nearest water source... and the morning dew wouldn’t wet up the grass for hours after i see her...
and unfortunately i cant take her inside to give her a shower, mainly because i don’t think my family would approve. however, rather lucky, our neighbors have split AC units, which are popular everywhere outside america. the outdoor unit is dripping condensation. so i assume the froggie that somehow ended up in our building’s backyard can get wet off that.
i genuinely worry for this froggie and wish i could do more for her. hopefully she won’t die... i haven’t seen her for a few nights already... but i’ve been seeing her multiple nights in a row previously... frogs (toads) are sooooo cute! i really hope she’s okay and well. i hope she hopped away to a wetter place, and now has a nice life!
i love frogs so so so so so so much. they’re just tiny little guys. frogs can do no wrong. frogs can do no harm. just ribbit and hop around. i truly hope my little green toad-friend is alive and well...
i feel bad for the frogs
