unbeknownst to me, ririum, or as they prefer it RiRiUm, is a japanese musical band. i genuinely did not know this. i came up with ririum on my own, where it was meant to mean “rina’s space” without spelling it directly as that sounded kinda too self centered. ririm for me is coined from my nickname riri, and chopped up latin suffix, -arium, from which i only took the “um”. as for this band, ririum represents the first syllable of their names.

so i’ve decided to change the website name again, even though i said i’ll stop doing so. i don’t want to be disrespectful, and take the spotlight from someone else. even if we are in completely different industries, and i technically could’ve kept “ririum”. keeping it wouldn’t feel right. they worked on getting recognition and by sharing the name, i may take that from them, since its a fairly a small band. like i said, it wouldn’t be fair to take the spotlight from them. especially since, from what i can find online, it seems like they came for this name first. the earliest instance of their “ririum”, from what i can find, is around 2024, meanwhile mine was 2026. so me keeping it, feels unfair. (´;ω;`) you can check out one of their songs if you’d want.

and you may be thinking “there ain’t no way you’re suppressing the japanese music industry.” but i was. at least in my current location for the term ‘ririum’ my website outranked their deezer/spotify pages. it was my page, than some random local company, and only then their music. they’re than indie, and i’d hate it myself if i tried to make music only for someone else’s stupid website to outrank me. like, how would YOU feel had that happened to you.

i think we had enough running around, let me introduce the new name: ridollace! pretty cute, isn’t it? this is pronounced properly as ree-DAHL-ays (IPA: /riːˈdɑl.eɪs/), but you can also say fully phonetically as ree-doh-LAH-tseh. ridollace is a coined name from ri (from riri), doll, and lace. despite my, well, crude language, i actually like cute things \(๑╹◡╹๑)ノ♬ so the name should be fitting ^-^

i hope you like the new website name as much as i do :3. it doesn’t have quite the same ring to it as ririum had, but even though i didn’t know, ririum wasn’t mine to begin with. maybe with a calmer name, my language will be calmer too? no one actually wants to read a post where every other word is “shit” or “fuck”, right? but i can’t stop myself from cussing extensively. i know it’s not very polite, and i know it’s thrashy. and even though cussing is very normal in my country’s culture, i don’t actually cuss this much outside this website... in my case, ririum, within itself, sounded kinda aggressive. like some unstable chemical element that’s about to explode at any moment; it sounded rough, rather then cute, and i kinda always wanted it to be cute. while i initially liked ririum, the more i think about it, the more cold and clinical it sounds when used for a personal blog. but also, if i didn’t realize the name is “taken”, i wouldn’t have thought about the name ever again, like not at all. and so the change wouldn’t have happened.

so maybe this is good. everything happens for a reason. if i wasn’t supposed to pick a new name, i wouldn’t have found out about the band, and thus i would’ve remained blissfully unaware and ignorant. but as a result of not being unaware, i’ve got a much better name. better, at least in my opinion. if you don’t like the new name, that’s a you problem, tehe~ (・ัω・ั)

alongside a name change, theres a very slight change in the websites stylings. but it is very subtle. maybe you won’t even notice it. so heres a side to side picture:

left being the old, right being the new. if things look wonky please do a hard refresh (ctrl+f5)

and please, for everything holy, don’t take this as me forcing a “personality change” or whatever. i’ll still cuss if i fucking feel like it, but also we must admit, i WAS overdoing it up until now. i needn’t cuss as much as i do. there’s nothing wrong with cussing or even bad language, at least in my opinion. but i was still overdoing it. so i am using this as an excuse to try and not cuss as much. will i succeed? we shall see. probably not tho. but i will try.

i dunno, it truly seems like, i can never stick with a website name, or even a domain name. like what time is it, that i have changed the website name, this year alone? im pretty sure everyone has lost the count. my bad i guess. but now, i have something truly unique, at least i think it is. and even if it isn’t, fuck it, we roll. i will be sticking to this. because there’s only so many times you can change a name of a website, without absolutely pissing everyone off. and i think im fairy close to the “limit”. so i think that for the foreseeable future this name will stick. i mean it’s pretty, and it’s cute, and most people can still recognize it’s my website. what else could i ever need? nothing. the name is perfect.

what do you think? do you like the new style and name? or will you miss “ririum”, even though it wasn’t my name to keep? tell me in the comments! i mean ririum was decent but also somewhat off. a change was inevitable. maybe not now, but for certain somewhere down the line. and who knows, maybe that other, hypothetical name, would be much, much worse.

so yeah, that’s it. but honestly, what do YOU think about the new name? and yes, the band’s name is/was the “doppelgänger”.
